An animation short from Orchid Animation, this scene taken from Caldera was my attempt at creating textures, drones, and ambiences for an abstract dream world plagued by a young girl's inner demons, and unifying those with subtle musical cues and some real world Foley recordings.

In an effort to create sounds that were based in something familiar but still not of this world, I tried something new and recorded my Squier Strat electric guitar while taking a power drill to it. The texture of the guitar strings and noise of the power drill, combined with some post-effects and time stretching, created some very tense and eerie sounds. You can hear some of those sounds when the demon character first reveals itself to Caldera.
